Jennifer Keller Bergel is a TAXPAYER.
Fiscal responsibility being demonstrated by elected officials is the expectation of all taxpayers – we want the most for our money; we want equal services; we know we must share the financial responsibility for meeting citizens’ needs. Having paid taxes to Loudoun, Virginia, and the United States since I was sixteen, I want to make sure the present and the future generations benefit from my tax dollars. However, I also want people to remain in Loudoun because this county has been their home, their family’s home, and they want it to be their children and grandchildren’s home. I want citizens to look at the school budget and agree with it because it makes educational and fiscal sense: I want the Board of Supervisors to recognize the School Board takes its responsibility to education and the taxpayers seriously. With a significant portion of the County budget devoted to the school system’s support of the entire county, all School Board members must continue to look through the budget carefully. This approach is a way to meet the taxpayers’ concerns – I accept the responsibility of doing so.
