Being a parent has been a source of joy, comfort, exultation, and sometimes tribulation. Universally, most parents want what is best for their children. Your time with your children is important – long bus rides and commuting times need to be reduced. LCPS has to continue to focus on providing schools closer to students’ homes as we reach “build out” whenever it is possible. Furthermore, parents and community members should see schools as a way to improve, not hinder, their lives by providing educational, recreational, and other opportunities. Parents need the reassurance that their children are getting the services they need. This approach is a way to meet parents’ concerns – I accept the responsibility of doing so.
